Child Bullying In School

The tendency of being violent and displaying power are traits present in every human being. These begin to manifest slowly right from infancy, as children have not yet fully grasped the concept of what is good and what is not. Child Bullying usually begins when they are young on a general note, but can later develop into quite serious problems. Then this begins in the form of physical violence and struggles not just in verbal forms.

Why Do Child Bully?

Bullying is simply a display of power that has been achieved in order to achieve temporary superiority over a group of children, but particularly a certain child.

  • In most cases of bullying, the incidents have taken the form of a group of kids who may belong to the same class or group of friends, who identify a kid who is not physically strong or different from others and tend to disturb or irritate him until he breaks down.
  • Many other situations are present, usually in the form of a single bully, due to existing stressful situations in the life of the child. His parents might abuse him at home or be treated badly by someone else and find peace by unleashing that behavior on someone else.
  • In shaping a child, family life plays an important role. In many cases, bullies have been found to have dysfunctional families where parents often argue, verbally abuse each other or even physical disturbance.

Child Bullying Types:

As aggressive as the behavior might be, sometimes bullying can be difficult to identify quickly. This is because not all bullying involves the beating of another child. There are different types of bullying that are:

1. Physical Child Bullying:

Physical bullying can take forms of kids beating a child, blocking him by pushing him around, breaking his or her toys and objects, pushing him unnecessarily while playing a sport, and so on.

2. Verbal  Child Bullying:

The initial stage of bullying could be demarcated. This is how bullying usually starts for many children before it becomes more severe. Verbal bullying can be noted when an offensive surname is given to a particular child, abuses are thrown against him and his family and so on.

3. Psychological  Child Bullying:

This type of bullying is hard to notice, and the victim himself can even realize it. Such intimidation is rarely directed at the child as most of it occurs passively. Various rumors about him could be spread, circumstances could be created that would cause him public embarrassment, and he could be slowly alienated from a group of friends, leaving him alone.

4. Electronic Child  Bullying:

This is a new one in the age of today, but it follows the same principles as usual. For this, the medium of communication is different, which is more dangerous since anonymity can now shield the bullying. Getting offensive emails, texts, or posts on social media that can sometimes be threatening, or posting pictures and videos of embarrassing moments shot on camera, all fall under this category.

Signs That Your Child Is Bullied:

If your child is bullied, it may not be immediately obvious until it escalates. You may look for some signs, which could tell you that.

  • Your child may suddenly withdraw within himself, usually outgoing or extroverted.
  • He wouldn’t want to go to school and suddenly get scared or throw tantrums.
  • His behavior, accompanied by a drop in school performance, may show signs of depression.
  • He may not invite or talk much about his friends.
  • Suddenly he might be very frightened and helpless in his behavior and talk himself down constantly.
  • His appetite will decrease and there will be a substantial change in eating habits.

What Can You Do If Your Child Bullies Other children?

1. Bring the bullying right away to his notice:

It is extremely important to have this discussion with him as soon as possible when you realize that your child has bullied someone else. The instant reaction makes it clear to him that not only do you know about it, but it’s a serious problem. Let him know it’s the worst kind of behavior and it won’t go unpunished in such instances.

2. Find the source of bullying motivation:

Treating the cause is better than punishing the child. Therefore, you have to figure out why your child has chosen to bully that particular child or anybody. It could be that your child was previously bullied and that he emulates the same actions. In addition to being firm with his bullying, this would require understanding and empathy for what he has suffered. Your child may be bullying someone else at other times just to be popular or accepted by another group. This requires an explanation of the importance of having good relationships and friendships in life that may take some time. Remember to reinforce bullying’s absolute unacceptableness.

3. Keep the logical consequences:

Let the disciplinary action remove the element that gave your child the first power to do it. If he has resorted to sending somebody abusive texts, retrieve his phone or lock the computer for a while. When he did that with a group of friends, get him ground for about a week. If being in a club or a sports team gives him a false sense of power, talk to the coach for a while to suspend him.

What Can You Do If Your Child Is Bullied?

If your child becomes the victim of bullying, it must be stopped by:

  • Bring it to the school authorities ‘ notice or the parents of the bully’s immediately.
  • Letting your child know that he’s safe and for him, you’re there.
  • To teach him to be with a friend and to walk away from bullies.
  • Tell him to keep his anger under control and not engage in a physical struggle.
  • Let him take steps to restore his trust and be again brave and courageous.

Bullying is an unfortunate habit, and everything comes from our very human nature. To know how to help your child deal with bullying, you need to see things from his perspective and understand why he’s going to be the goal. By helping him build confidence and supporting him, you can provide your little one with a safe and enjoyable childhood.
