Did You Know The Pros And Cons Of Working From Home?

Working from Home appears like a feasible, all-around alternative to the regimen we have embraced without second thoughts, which offers a feeling of liberty we never experience in daily life. With various technology giants embracing remote working for the future, this big change already makes us feel as if we have discovered the best way to combine work and life within our comfort zones. Or it seems that.

For a long time, remote work has been the direction followed by freelancers, home-engaged workers (such as mothers), and others who prefer solitary work and have no dependencies. Yet it’s been gaining attention all over the world recently, with many people opting to opt for an initial working from the home stage when they join an organization.

Pros And Cons Of Working From Home?

Working-from-Home offers a radically different front of engagement as opposed to the normal workplace structure, barring all of the infrastructural and internet-related challenges that companies and individuals face.

Pros Of Working From Home

The advantages of working from home are numerous. That is what you would expect:

1. Save Time

For one, you are not spending hours in the bathroom in the morning to get dressed. And because you no longer need to drive, you’re saving a lot of time, too.

If you’re not lucky enough to stay right next to your office, you’ll need to spend what? 30 Minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours?! On commuting every day. That is crazy!

Only think about what you will do with the time. Sleep a little longer, have a long breakfast, go for a run. I know for sure a lot of better things to do with my time.

2. Save Money

When you’re working from home you save money. No tickets to public transport or to gas bills. You may no longer use your car at all? That would definitely save you a whole lot of money.

You will also save money as you will no longer need to buy office clothes and you will be able to cook your own food instead of going to costly cafes. All that adds up!

3. Flexible Working Hours

If you’re a freelancer or company owner, you’ll most likely have your own working hours to choose from. Even many businesses require remote workers to determine for themselves when they want to operate.

Which means you will be able to work while you are most successful. Others tend to work until late at night for certain people this is in the morning. Basically you get to work at your own speed.

You are of course more flexible when it comes to private appointments as well.

4.  More Family Time

You can also spend it with your family or friends because you don’t have to waste your precious time on travel. You may always look at the children in the morning and move your job in the afternoon if you do not have a flexible work schedule.

You may also be able to attend school events, which you had skipped because of your job before. Or your friend, who has shift work and therefore is difficult to meet, will meet you.

5. Reduced Stressed

Remote work can reduce even stress. You should not only miss the irritating routes to work when you work online. You no longer have to deal with challenging work conditions.

No boss, waiting for results, standing behind you. No more keyboard hammering, no more telephone calls, and no more intimidation or fighting. It saves you many worries in the long run.

Cons Of Working From Home

Working from home, as with everything, has its drawbacks too. See what you may not like about it all too much:

1. No Human Interaction

While every now and then you’ll have calls and online meetings with your customers or team members, most of the time you’ll be home alone.

No quick coffee breaks, no lunch together, no weekend plans to share with colleagues. For certain people, the lack of social contact can be very difficult.

2. Distractions

When you work from home, potential distractions are all around. A lot of focus is required to concentrate on the job and do tasks.

There are, indeed, apps like Time Doctor that help you to stay concentrated by encouraging you to go to work as soon as you’d like to use Facebook, YouTube, and so on. Super useful!

3. Lack of Productivity

Decreased productivity goes alongside the problem of distractions. It’s perfect because all day long, you don’t have a boss looking over your shoulder. Yet, without a bit of motivation, some people won’t be able to get any work done.

Whether there are so many distractions or lack of motivation, or the sense that this is really a working day – efficiency can be a major problem when working from home.

4. Unhealthy Lifestyle

Working from home, on the one hand, is wonderful for your health, and can greatly increase it.

It can, on the other hand, be harmful too. Many companies have ergonomic chairs or even standing desks to their offices. You do not want to spend too much money in home office facilities when you work from home.

Perhaps worse: Many people enjoy working all day while sitting on the sofa. It would certainly give you horrific back pain sooner or later.

Furthermore,  if you work all day and don’t leave your home, you don’t do any favor.

5. Hard to Switch Off

At home, you sleep. You work at home. Sometimes it’s difficult to separate private life from business. You don’t have working hours and will work literally from early in the morning until late in the evening. You ‘re all about your job all of your life.

If you like your job, you might not see it as a downside at the start. But you could burn out soon because of your work and your private life became one.

6. Bad Reputation

This is one of the most annoying problems working from home to me. People just don’t value it as much as they do in-office work.

So, when do you get a REAL job, hopefully once again? I can’t even tell you how much my family and friends asked me “Or could you [insert any random 3-hour long task] do today? You ‘re at home anyway, and you’ve got time.

Even if you’re working more hours now than you used to, people don’t think it works. Very frustrating.

All the challenges that people face during work from home are not one way of taking care of them. It is a fairly new area for most of us, so it may take some time to embrace its existence. Nevertheless, the fight is true, but it is also an opportunity for us to prepare for a new age of working without sitting in a single setting.
