Side Effects Of Air Conditioners You Must Know

Side Effects Of Air Conditioners You Must Know

With the advent of the air conditioner, people find it hard to get away without owning one, particularly with the extreme heat that comes with climate change. Without the aid of air conditioning, surviving the summer is nearly impossible. If you depend on it for long periods of time, though, you must be ready for the adverse consequences it can cause. Continue reading for the side effects of air conditioners.

Side Effects of Air Conditioners

Not only the climate but also air conditioners may have a major effect on human health. There are some side effects of air conditioners you need to be aware of.

1. Lethargy

Unexplained slowness and laziness have been shown to be correlated with people who according to research, have air conditioners in their homes or workplaces. You may be one of those that feel lethargy about three times as likely as though you’re in a naturally ventilated environment when you are excessively air-conditioned up to the point you’re shivering.

2. Dry And Itchy Skin

Researchers have come up with a term for the “sick building syndrome” signs of the health niggles connected to the building! While other symptoms can be missed within a few hours of your leaving the home, it isn’t as easy to soothe a dry skin issue. It could take a few days, depending on how severe the dryness is. In the summer, it gets much worse. In combination with sunshine, extreme air conditioning can cause itchy and dry skin.

3.  Increase of Respiratory Symptoms

In contrast to those that spend time in non-air-conditioned environments, people that spend a lot more time in places that are air-conditioned appear to experience much more upper respiratory problems in the skin, nose, and mouth. A nasal blockage, a dry throat, or even rhinitis are the most frequent symptoms. A shocking report claims that 28 percent of residents in air-conditioned buildings have rhinitis, compared to just 5 percent in naturally ventilated buildings. Around 35 percent of residents in air-conditioned spaces had a nasal blockage in buildings with natural ventilation, compared with just 9 percent. Indeed, this is another disturbing explanation of why it should be easy to use air conditioning.

4. Breathing Issues

During the sweltering heat of summer, you get caught in traffic and you thank the universe for getting air conditioning in your car. Little did you know that they are the worst criminals that inflict respiratory issues from spreading germs and micro-organisms. At Louisiana State Medical Center, a disturbing report found eight forms of mold residing within 22 out of 25 checked cars. This may cause airborne diseases such as Legionnaire’s Disease to circulate, a potentially lethal infectious disease that causes increased fever and pneumonia.

5. Worsens Allergies and Asthma

You might assume that cold temperatures would be better for skin conditions, but if you are exposed to AC that is not well cleaned or well kept, you risk exposing yourself to a host of causes and bacteria, allergies and even asthma may even get worse. For individuals who are allergic to pollen and other air contaminants, it is more advantageous to remain indoors, but an unsanitized AC could do more harm than good.

6. Headaches

Nobody needs headaches, for sure, that’s it. Sadly, this is one of the most common side-effects of spending a long time in an air-conditioned room. If the AC is not adequately handled, when the degree of indoor air pollution rises, the vulnerability to headaches and migraines is greater. The likelihood that you get dehydrated may also lead to headaches.  Dehydration is an often-underestimated cause for migraines, as a matter of fact.

7. Dehydration

In rooms that run on AC for long hours, the risk of being dehydrated is greater. You set up to be dehydrated when air conditioning draws so much humidity from the environment and you lack your water consumption. This is likely when the temperatures are poor, and because you feel way too cold, your body does not feel the urge to drink. Also, let’s agree that we also prefer to shiftless when the air is cold.

8. Infectious Diseases

Do you know that because the air conditioners dry out the nasal passages, they can cause inflammation in your mucus membranes and dry out the mucus? Well, yes. The lack of sufficient shielding mucus is increasingly vulnerable to potential virus attacks. In particular, prominent microbes such as legionaries, for example in artificial water systems, like those in air conditioning units and systems, flourish in artificial water supply systems.

9. Inability to deal with the heat

Although the AC messes up with our normal body temperature, those who spend a lot of time in an air-conditioned atmosphere are getting more and more intolerant to hot summers. The key source of this intolerance is the tension on your body from going from a cool climate to smoldering outdoor weather. This leads to a rise in heat-related fatalities during heat waves, which now averages 400 deaths per summer. Now you can see that so many elders have passed away during the season.

So, these are 9 side effects of air conditioners.

Is the air conditioner safe for my baby?

It can be safe if you take a lot of care. Newborn babies can’t quickly respond to temperature fluctuations, and abrupt changes in temperature can make them vulnerable to sickness. As a result, the cool room temperature is great for premature infants.

We may not be able to survive without air conditioning, but remember to use it correctly. Constant cleaning and sanitary practices should be followed. It is recommended that you ventilate the room every 3-4 hours to prevent headaches and dry nose. It’s unwise to get a fever at the risk of cool weather. Your body also needs fresh air, which only proper ventilation can offer. So please be patient and mindful of your health!
