When You Should Take a Pregnancy Test – Don’t Take it Too Early !!

Even with the most effective birth control methods, there’s always a chance for error. After all, it takes just one sperm to fertilize the egg. Finding out whether or not that’s happened is as easy as taking an over-the-counter (OTC) pregnancy test.

A Typical MOMMA Story : I stared at the pregnancy test, unsure of what it was telling me. I knew I had tested early. Possibly too early. I think I saw one Line. I wanted to see one. Was there a tiny little baby burrowing into my womb? Was I going to be a mama to a sweet little one? I snapped a photo, intent on getting to the bottom of this mystery pregnancy result. The photo hid any hint of the line I thought I saw. Even zoomed in on my phone, the test looked negative.

According to Cleveland Clinic, most tests are 99 percent effective if taken after a missed period. The best part is that you can do it in the privacy of your own home. Simply open the test, follow the instructions, and wait for the recommended amount of time to view the results.
As soon as implantation happens, your body begins creating a hormone called hCG. This hormone is only made by pregnant women, thus, pregnancy tests aim to detect hCG levels in an expecting mama’s urine.

How to avoid a false positive pregnancy Test :

  1. Do not test earlier than 12 – 14 days after ovulation.
  2. You should wait to take a pregnancy test until the week after your missed period for the most accurate result.
  3. Repeat the test two days later, regardless of the results.
    > If you get a negative result the first time, it may be because your hCG hasn’t risen enough yet for the test to detect it.
    > If you get a positive result, a second test two days later can rule out a very early pregnancy loss, also known as chemical pregnancy.

Sexually active women in their reproductive years have a chance of pregnancy every month, even when using protection. There are certain signals your body might send that should prompt you to take a pregnancy test.
